BioTeacher 2.0 out of 5 stars Immediately it began to freeze - sometimes I would have to remove the battery 1-2 times a day to get it to reboot which was ridiculous. It often had difficulty finding my network (none of our other electronics have this problem). I called customer service after two months of this nonsense and they did send me a new remote. It is no longer charging properly and makes an awful whining noise when in the charger. I have to reboot it about 2x per week (better than the first one but still not acceptable). I don't recommend this product - it has lots of bells and whistles, but if the screen is frozen or it is not charging right - doesn't really matter. Perhaps the next update will fix some of the bugs but for now, we don't use it at all.Add this to that column. This remote has so much potential, I was so excited to get this and for the first month it wasn't everything I had hoped but still impressive.

My remote froze today and upon resetting it I no longer had the options that are advertised and frankly were key selling points. If that hasn't changed your mind about this remote, let me tell you of some other shortcomings. This remote is only capable of infrared technology. Granted most remotes only use this technology, but for claiming to be an advanced all in one remote it should be able to control newer technology. I have Dish Network and you can only control one TV off of this remote because if you are running a 2 TV setup off a dish box, the ESPN Remote is not capable of transmitting UHF signals to control the second TV. Next, I have an i-pod dock that uses RF technology to control it, again the ESPN remote is not capable of this technology either. The programing is insanity causing and seems to never quite do what you wanted it to do. Technical details aside, this remote is nothing special. It was great when it was capable of doing all that was ADVERTISED, but now I'd rather go back to using the 5 individual remotes. There is a reason they are offering this device at a drastically reduced price, because it's capabilities are drastically reduced too. Ultimate remote.maybe 5 years ago it would have been, but with advances in touchscreen technology and above mentioned other issues, this remote should be renamed to the ESPN Snake-Oil Remote, cause it ain't going to do what it promises. The worst part is, they subtly released this statement, that this would be affective October 26th, yet when promoting it, all the descriptions describe all the capabilities, even the ones no longer available. Seems a little bit irresponsible on their part to allow such an inaccurate description to continue to entice potential buyers. Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) And now you know. There are quite a few people who compare this remote to one of the Harmony remotes.

Well, I have a Harmony remote and although you can set it up using the PC, it isn't always easy and it doesn't always work the way you'd expect it to. Setting up the ESPN remote can go two ways. If you're not technically inclined, follow the onscreen prompts and it will walk you through the setup. Once you are in learning mode, you can program buttons one right after another. You can actually learn a complete device faster with this remote than setting up a Harmony remote using their software. 2. YOU decide what the buttons on the remote do. Okay, on to the good stuff. Guide:The onscreen guide is great. You can scan through it and see what's on tv without having to change the channel or disturbing someone else who's watching tv. If you see something that is coming on later, you can actually set a reminder and the remote will beep when the show is starting. Weather: It will give you the current weather as well as an extended forcast. ESPN: Direct access to ESPN. Click365: Internet access to some news, entertainment, amazon.com, yahoo and even Facebook Mobile. Messaging: Why would you want to send a text message to someone from your remote when you can use your phone. Because you can! Sometimes you just don't feel like getting up to get you phone to text. Well, you can send and receive text messages from your remote control. You can even send someone info about a tv show while looking through the guide directly from the guide. Do you need it? No. Is it kinda cool? Well.yeah Search: There's a search function on the remote. Let's say you're watching a show and refer to something you've never heard of, you can do a search.and presto instant info on that subject. I'm liking this remote more and more as I'm typing this review. No, it's not a Harmony. It's better.
